Voices For Energy

Recently, Senators Barbara Boxer of California and John Kerry of Massachusetts introduced a first draft of the Senate version of the global warming bill, dubbed the "Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act." Although the draft failed to include many important details, the bill called for an even more stringent short-term reduction in carbon dioxide emissions than did the Waxman-Markey bill that narrowly passed the House in June.

We are all concerned about climate change and measuring carbon dioxide levels, but the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act is not the way to address the issue.

The hidden tax on commodities imposed by this legislation will lead to a significant increase in the price of gasoline and other energy sources, and more than a million job losses in our already crippled economy - with no measurable improvement on global climate change.
