Concerned about EPA Action on Dioxin Levels
5/13/2010
The EPA is out of step with the rest of the world and science and is expected to set the threshold more than 4 times more stringent than any other country or the World Health Organization. The EPA has set a December, 2010 deadline for finalizing the dioxin reassessment. ACC believes it is appropriate for EPA to ensure that dioxin health risk is assessed as accurately as possible taking into account the success of efforts already underway, and regulate accordingly, however, we are concerned that the EPA will unduly regulate dioxins beyond what is appropriate to ensure public health or is possible given the fact that they are natural occurring compounds.
